ABOUT MELANIE HOOD-WILSON

29 years of education experience

Under the leadership of Melanie Hood-Wilson, The Community College of Baltimore County Single Step Program grew from eight students to over 300 and from five open enrollment courses to a catalogue of over 100 courses and classes offered at four CCBC campuses and extension centers and five partnership sites. She is the architect of Maryland’s first and largest portfolio of community college pre-professional programs for individuals with disabilities, including a suite of certification programs for child care providers, warehouse professionals, professional animal workers, security professionals, and clerical/office professionals.
In 2012, Melanie was named Maryland Workforce Professional of the Year by Maryland Works. In 2013, ARC Baltimore named CCBC a Partner of Distinction for its Project Search partnership program with Single Step. In 2014, Melanie was named Employment Advocate of the Year by the Baltimore County Commission on Disabilities. In 2016, Melanie, with Single Step, was presented the Organization Award from the Maryland Rehabilitation Association for its customized trainings in partnership with Maryland’s Division of Rehabilitation Services.

HOMESCHOOL CURRICULUM AND DESIGN

Whether you are educating your child alone, in a pod, or in a cooperative, Melanie Hood-Wilson and Associates will design a curriculum that will prepare your child to be a knowledgable and culturally aware life long learner. Through hands-on instruction, project and inquiry based learning, and critical thinking, we will provide your child or group with customized curriculum, activities, field trips/community learning experiences, and assessments designed for authentic learning. Our team has a collective 120 years of experience designing and providing learning experiences for kids grades k-12.
